Only in El Salvador

Woke-up this morning to kids banging on my door. I refused to get out of bed to accept their permission slips...it was 7 am. I told them I would be up at school in an hour. Fifteen minutes later, more banging. This time I decided to suck it up and get up. I opened my window instead of my door so I wouldn't have to be fully dressed. My kids told me a dean at the university we were suppose to visit died and that the English Festival was suspended. They told me to call to confirm. I did and the lady told me she had been thinking about me. She wanted to send a message over the radio in hopes that I would hear it.

I got out of bed. Wasted time doing who knows what...reading the news I think. Finally made up to school by 9...an hour later than I promised. I helped out with some blowing up of balloons for the Mother's Day celebration. School was cancelled so they could do a mother's day appreciation and then school is cancelled Monday....to give mom's time to spend with their kids??? Who knows. After blowing up like 15 balloons I snuck out and went home to watch Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. At some point I was summoned down the street to help them figure out a video camera that had been sent from the States. After that, I watched Marley & Me...cried of course. Then, at some point I inquired about my lost kitten and washed clothes.

My neighbor came home and finally started cleaning up all the trash littered in our backyard. Every time I come home after days of being gone our backyard falls to complete disarray... I have no idea why. Actually, I do. Salvadorans, as a habit, throw their trash on the floor or ground. In my neighbor's house, this means once a week or so sweeping out the house and depositing it NEAR the trash but not quite in a receptacle. Then, wind blows and suddenly it is strewn around.

As I finished up washing, I was talking to my sister (who is about to graduate) on the phone as I was watching my neighbor help her son poop on the backyard. He then started pooping on the patio. It was all too much to watch so I went inside for a little while and made some quesadillas When I came out, the poop was still there so I threw a few buckets of water over it to make it disappear. Then, I noticed that the trash she finally picked up (3 bags) now resided in my garden in front of my door. How kind. I stewed about it for a bit and then decided the right way to handle it would be to pick it up and move it to where it wouldn't bother me so much.

Afterwards, I took more steroids for my thyroid which are apparently making me have killer mood swings so I did a little something to alleviate that. Then, I started "Forgetting Sarah Marshall." In the middle of that, I got a call about a new kitten possibly on its way- Shaquille. Of course, I am adamantly opposed to that name but I was assured I could change it. We'll see if it happens.

Now, I am eating Top Ramen...fan favorite. Going to finish my movie and soup.
