In fact, I have been wanting to write about this. There are so many children who drop out several times only to find themselves still in 4th grade as 14 year olds. Or, 9th graders who are 18. There are some parents who won't allow their kids to go to school so they can bring in more money. I know one little girl who takes care of the baby next door in the early morning and afternoons. She thankfully squeezes in school from 7:30 to 12:00. It is such a problem though. One I doubt will be remedied until employment opportunities can be created. It was one of the reasons I cited in a my recent application for funds to start a bakery here in town. The women WANT to send their kids to school and believe that if they can make enough income out of that, then they can send their kids to receive their education.
