Frozen bananas and soccer
I have developed an addiction to frozen bananas. They are the perfect summer treat. Healthy and delicious. Though right now I am not worried about losing weight...or actually I am bc I am losing wayyy to much of it. It could be for a number of reasons. I don't over-eat like in the States since there is usually only just enough food for the family. I have a rice, beans, and tortilla diet. I never have been into junk food. And, well, I could have a worm helping things out. Gross, I know. It's my biggest nightmare but I probably won't know if that is true until my mid-service health exam. I really do doubt it. Another thing is I get basically no exercise on a daily or weekly basis so I have lost quite a bit of muscle. I am dreading going back to pilates class after this is all over...it will be painful.
Speaking of excercise, as I have mentioned, Peace Corps has a soccer team. We usually play with whomever is available all-women/all-men/ co-ed. Today, we were invited to play against the National Amputee team of El Salvador. They wanted to do an exhibition and invited us to play. So we got a co-ed team together and played versus middle-aged, ex-military amputees. It was really fun and super interesting. I was really nervous to play too rough and knock them over but they are really super tough and well-trained guys. They block out and run really well with their crutches. And the one-armed goalie has a great punt. We ended up tying 1-1. A great experience for sure.
