election night and my new site!

as someone so wonderfully pointed out to me, my grammar and english is pretty awful on this blog. there are two reasons for that aside from the fact that dont speak english predominantly anymore. one, i usually have hardly anytime to dedicate to the internet much less my grammar when i do get that precious time. two, the keyboards at the internet cafes are strangely different so sometimes i screw up and dont notice or sometimes (like now) i dont have the patience to go look for the correct punctuation key bc you need to push like ten buttons simulataneously.

Entonces, YAY for Barack Obama! Of course, I am in the Peace Corps and there was lots of shall we say interest in the outcome. We had a party where we all stayed in a hotel and watch the results. We had to go to a hotel because that was the only way we could have access to cable. We were glued to CNN all night and I admit I got a little teary eyed. Unfortunately, three days prior I was consumed by gripe (a cold) and had to take Benadryl. I was fighting to stay awake during his amazing speech but I did it! Then I passed out...

Yesterday, we found out where we will presumably be spending the next two years of our lives. I got a pueblo which is a small town. I am very excited about that... And, I will be in the Department (state) of Morazan. If you look at a map I am in the east, very close to Honduras. If you can find San Miguel which is one of three large cities in ES, then you will see that I am a bit NE of it, in the bottom of Morazan. I doubt you will be able to find my city but just in case, its called Yamabal. There are about a million volunteers around me including like 5 people from my training class. I am really excited about that. I´ll be working primarily in the school. My focus will be teaching english, computer classes, and other supplemental education for the teachers. I am also hoping to bring their library up to date and start some reading programs...stay tuned for that all you who are so excited to be part of my project here in El Salvador!

That´s it for now. I am swearing in at the Embassy next week and then I will be heading to my site next weekend.

Aren't the keyboards a pain in the ass. they freaking switch key around like it is some sort of practical joke. I probably used the backspace button more than any other when i was in Spain, so i know exactly how you feel, and i think your doing damn well.
