A couple of things I haven't mentioned..
I wake up everyday under a frothy volcano...lits amazing.
I swam in a volcanic lake this weekend. It was gorgeous and warm.
Most people here still use woodburning stoves...including my host family.
Trash pick up is not the norm. Most communities vote to decide if they want to pay the taxes for the trash truck (tren de aseo)...and many many communities decide they don't want to so a lot of burning of trash goes on including plastic. This leads to the high rate of upper respiratory problems.
I have seen raw bean and chucked them (is that what you do to beans?? haha)

why is your host brother wearing a Ohio t-shirt. That must have been a surprise. Anyway, it sounds like your doing well and in good health. Post the pics of the volcano lake and any other ones you might have. I love you and take care. We'll talk soon. By the way UT beat Ohio in a really good game.
