Out of California
Well, after a little over a year, I just left California. After lots of goodbyes and lots of tears, I drove a grueling 11 hours to Albuquerque, NM. It was probably one of the worst drives I have ever done in my life. I didn't stop to eat-- only to fill up gas and go to the bathroom. I really just wanted to be back in Texas with my family but man did it come at a price. I was absolutely miserable by the time I checked into my hotel. It didn't even seem worth it as I cheered crossing the Texas state line. However, I put it behind me and appreciated being back in my home state. What a great feeling it was.
On the way out here I started thinking about the things I would miss in California. Most of it was pretty obvious but I was most surprised by just how short the list was. I liked California but really it was not my cup of tea.
What I will miss:
Trader Joes
my HB
my Jack, the kitty who adopted us
my LA ladies
my kids at work
my boss
Girl Scouts
our photography instructor
Since I am moving to a place with a beach it didnt seem necessary to miss that. And, I certainly won't miss the smog or the traffic.
Glad to be home.
